Quality Management
Quality management interventions are key to improving the quality of breast health services offered in Jordan. This is accomplished through the unification of screening and diagnostic procedures among healthcare practitioners through the adoption of Guidelines and standards, in tandem with the implementation of a Certification Program.
Guidelines and Manuals
The publication of Jordan’s National Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis Guidelines in 2007 was a crucial move in the direction of ensuring the provision of a unified and standardized breast cancer screening and diagnostic services in Jordan.
With the support of an expert panel that reviewed several established international guidelines, JBCP assembled the national guidelines for Jordan based on those of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). The guidelines were tailored and modified to suit the Jordanian context and needs, and are updated periodically by an expert taskforce to include new findings and recommendations.
Emphasizing quality assurance in breast imaging services has driven JBCP to support standardized quality practices across breast cancer early detection processes at the national level. This includes the development of a comprehensive Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) Educational Manual to train concerned medical professionals and institutionalize CBE training within educational institutions.
In addition to the CBE manual, JBCP also developed the first comprehensive reference manual for mammography radiographers. Several recognized international resources reviewed by various stakeholders, including the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, Jordanian Association for Physicists in Medicine, and partners in the academia and health sectors to produce.
